ABOUT

Adventure: Wanderlust Tours is the premier destination to explore the immense volcanic landscape that surrounds Bend and Central Oregon! Join us on this engaging series of walks to explore the incredible Newberry National Volcanic Monument and one of our regions largest volcanic systems!

Naturalist Guided Experience: Perched on the edge of one of the largest volcanoes in North America, our first stop will be a short and inspiring trail where you will garner spectacular views of the Cascade Mountain Range that lies to Bend’s west. We will next make our way to a stretch of the Deschutes River just above Benham Falls, where the serene water’s very flow was shaped by the violent eruptions of the Newberry Volcano. Our adventure will conclude at a kipuka, an area where islands of trees have managed to grow and flourish among a sea of lava rock. Throughout the tour, your award-winning Naturalist Guide will bring the landscape to life, sharing their knowledge of the region’s fascinating geology and cultural history! The full tour will comprise of a combination of short, easy walks totaling around 3 miles.

A perfect way to adventure in Fall, Winter, & Spring: As the summer sun wanes and we move toward colder weather, the high point of the Newberry National Volcanic Monument start collecting feet of snow, moving our volcano tour lower in elevation, where the signs of Central Oregon’s largest volcano’s eruptive history is most prevalent.
