Prineville sits in the heart of the Crooked River Caldera, an ancient supervolcano that last erupted around 30 million years ago. Lying on the edge of the Oregon outback, it is one of the best places in the country for stargazing and night sky adventures. Join us for a weekend filled with stargazing, stunning hikes, a multi-course dinner, and naturalist interpretation about the vital importance of our dark skies.

Join us for a night of celestial wonder! The Astrological forecast is currently predicting excellent visibility for one of the biggest and brightest meteor showers of the year!

We have a variety of options for exploration! Whether it be canoeing on a high alpine lake or summiting a butte on one of our two different hiking options, the night is bound to be spectacular.

Moonlight & Starlight Canoe Tour

The Cascade Lakes at night are truly magical! Join us on an evening canoe tour where we will push into the water as the last of the sun light disappears behind the Cascade Mountains and the moon and stars begin to dot the night sky.

Starlight Snowshoe Tours & Bonfire Tours

Cruising on snowshoes under the starlit sky, we will immerse ourselves in the winter wonderland of the Deschutes National Forest. Our Starlight Snowshoe Tour truly focus on stargazing and the beauty of the winter sky while our Bonfire Tour balances comfort and stargazing as we spend time around a crackling bonfire!

Starlight Cave Tour

Join us on this epic subterranean tour on Bend’s ponderosa pine-studded high desert.  After our underground exploration we will emerge from the cave to find the night sky twinkling above us. Our renowned naturalist guides will highlight sweet bits of these cool caverns that might not initially meet the eye and tell age old stories of astronomy and the cosmos!

Geminids Meteor Shower
Snowshoe Tour

The celestial heavens are poised to align on December 13th as the moon enters into a new phase while the Geminids Meteor Shower hits its peak! Cruising on snowshoes under the starlit sky, we will immerse ourselves in the winter wonderland of the Deschutes National Forest, enjoying a cup of delectable hot cocoa as we witness the Geminids Meteor Shower.

If the stars align again we’ll be offering this tour again for 2024 so check back!!
