Trek around the top of Lava Butte for vistas of Oregon’s backbone, the Cascade Range and 10 square miles of lava below. At the lava field’s edge rages Benham Falls. The placid Deschutes River turns torrid, yet the serenity of aspen groves along this gentle hike has a calming effect.
Next we’ll visit the riches of culture found at the acclaimed High Desert Museum. The museum is an unexpected treasure of natural and cultural history. Your guide will help reveal insights to the museum’s incredible displays with a 40-minute docent tour of the Spirit of the West. Tour length - Full day (6 hours) or Half day (3 and 1/2 hours)
