Can our entire family come on a Wanderlust Tour?
• Yes. In the summer our tours are suitable for all ages. We will arrange a tour to meet the needs of everyone in your group. We've had 1-year-olds canoeing with us as well as 85-year-old adventurers. We will recommend specific trips for specific ages. In winter, we recommend 8-years-old or older.

Do you offer corporate tours or trips for family reunions, and convention and educational groups?
• Yes! Corporate and convention groups often take a half-day trip with Wanderlust Tours, and easily fit in between other meetings and functions. We can customize trips to your schedule and needs. Family reunions benefit by leaving the planning to us, and the entire vacationing family enjoys being able to experience a great activity as a group. Advance bookings are recommended for groups.

Do I need to make Reservations?
Yes!  Reservations are required for all tours and should be made as soon as possible to ensure your space. A few days advance is recommended, longer for peak seasons, for moonlight or special events.  Last minute space is often available. Reservations are guaranteed with a VISA or Mastercard number. Payment by cash on the day of the tour is preferred and appreciated to help keep the cost of tours down.

Is there a cancellation Policy? What if I need to cancel?
Wanderlust Tours are conducted regardless of the weather.  Due to the desire to keep all groups small for an intimate experience, tours fill quickly and cancellation policies are held to strictly. For standard daytime tours, a cancellation, or a decrease in number of participants, between 24 and 72 hours before your tour will result in a 50% forfeiture of the tour cost. Cancellations within 24 hours and "no shows," for any reason, will result in a full forfeiture of the tour cost. The deadline to cancel without charge for moonlight or special event tours is 7 days prior to the tour. Cancellations will be charged to your credit card.

How large are your tour groups?
• Our tours consist of small groups, minimum 4 people, standard maximum of 14 (larger groups can easily be accommodated with advance reservations). The small group size lends a personalized touch and a great atmosphere for asking questions and getting to know people—and makes minimum impact on our environment!

Are gratuities customary?
• Tour guide gratuities are not included. Please extend the customary gratuity, when warranted, on a voluntary basis.

Do you have a company philosophy about use of the land?
• Wanderlust Tours holds great respect for the natural surroundings of our tours and hopes to introduce you to delicate ecosystems while maintaining a low impact on the environment.

Are gift certificates available?
Gift certificates for winter or summer tours make great gifts for Anniversaries, Birthdays or Christmas! Just call and we’ll package it up and mail it!

How long are the snowshoeing trips?
• Three and a half hours including the pickup time.  We are on the snow for about 1-3/4 to 2 hours, and in that time we cover about 1 to 2 miles, depending on the pace of the group.

How should I dress for a winter tour?
• Dressing in layers is the best. You will be warm when you snowshoe. Layering allows you to take a layer off or put it back on as appropriate. Also, powder pants or ski pants to keep your legs dry are a good idea. Wanderlust Tours rents powder pants for $5 per pair. Request pants when you make your reservation

Do I need boots?
• Yes. You should have some sort of boot on your feet. A "Sorel"-type boot is ideal, but leather hiking boots, an after-ski boot or the like will work just as well. Having wool socks is also important. Wanderlust Tours rents boots for $7 per pair. Reserve your specific boot size when you make your reservation.

Other things I should bring?
• Bring a water bottle, and a camera to catch the beauty of the snow-covered forest! A backpack is also helpful to carry your items or to store a jacket if you need to take off a layer.

Can my children go snowshoeing as well?
• Children 8 years and older are welcome. If you have questions about younger children, please call. With smaller children, the snowshoes are often bigger than they are!

What times do you offer tours?
• Our winter tours are offered seven days per week, one in the morning and one in the afternoon at approximately 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively. Our moonlight tours run from 7 – 11 p.m. for the nights surrounding the full moon, December through April.

What about the weather?
• Wanderlust Tours are conducted regardless of the weather and guests need to dress appropriately.  Snowshoe Tours generally run from November through May, depending on snow conditions. Since we snowshoe in the cover of the forest, it is a wonderful experience to snowshoe while it’s snowing!  If Wanderlust Tours cancels a tour due to weather conditions, no charge will be assessed. For moonlight tours, we go whether it seems cloudy in Bend/Sunriver or not. It’s too difficult to tell what it will be like up in the mountains from down below, and it is generally gorgeous even when the moon moves in and out of cloud cover. Tours are rarely cancelled and guests are encouraged to dress for any weather condition.

Do your canoeing trips go over white water?
• No. Wanderlust Tours takes you on either a high mountain lake or on stretches of the Deschutes River. We prefer placid water canoeing for two reasons: Most of our guests would not be comfortable on rapids in a canoe, nor would they have the skills to canoe white water. Also, we prefer to slow down and enjoy nature. Paddling placid waters allow us to see the animal life along the rivers and lakes like no other means can.

When do you canoe on the Cascade Lakes versus the Deschutes River?
We canoe on the Deschutes River in early spring as the birds are returning north and before we can access the high mountain lakes due to snow. Once the mountain lakes melt out, we prefer to head up to the lakes for most of our summer canoe trips to enjoy a pristine, glassy lake in more remote areas.

What should I wear or bring with me?
• Wear sturdy shoes/boots for all tours except canoeing; sandals or shoes you don’t mind getting wet work best there. Bring layers for the weather of the day and swimsuits if you want to swim during canoe trips. Bring a water bottle, and a camera to catch the beauty of the High Desert region! If you’re on a half-day tour that does not include lunch, feel free to bring snacks, but please refrain from eating in the vans. Thanks.

What times do you offer tours?
We conduct half-day tours 7 days per week.  Morning departures are typically 9:00 a.m., afternoon departures are typically 1:30 p.m. and evening tours begin around 8:00 p.m.

What about the weather?
• Wanderlust Tours are conducted regardless of the weather and guests are encouraged to dress appropriately for a variety of weather conditions.  Summer tours generally run from May through October – dress appropriately for the weather. If Wanderlust Tours cancels a tour, no charge will be assessed.

We guarantee you'll leave the area with a far greater appreciation of your vacation than you ever thought you would.
