Dinner Canoe Under the Stars

Enjoy a catered gourmet dinner on the shore of a glistening mountain lake before heading out onto the water for a serene and stunning paddle. The nighttime mountain environment, filled with shooting stars and the moon’s beaming light, will provide a magical experience you’ll long remember. Guides will share fun natural and cultural history with guests during our 2-hour paddle. Dessert and coffee await our return to shore before heading home.

  • Crater Lake

    Inside Oregon’s only National Park, Crater Lake, our visit begins at the Pumice Desert, a remnant of Mt. Mazama’s tremendous blast. We’ll next ascend the north flank of the volcano and arrive on the rim for incredible views down to Crater Lake. Several stops on the rim will give everyone great vantage points while the guide unfurls the geologic history. Wanderlust Tours will provide a wonderful picnic lunch under old-growth trees on the lake’s rim. We will travel the rest of the rim of Crater Lake before heading back to the Bend area.

  • Lava Lands plus Benham Falls

    Explore Lava Lands where we will begin our journey to the top of a volcano which sits within a 10-square-mile lava field. Our guide will share the fabulous central Oregon geology with the group. We’ll walk around the crater at the top before heading off to Benham Falls.

    After a short drive, we arrive at Benham Falls for a 1-mile round trip walk through the forest. The placid Deschutes River turns torrid as it falls over the lava, yet the serenity of aspen groves along this gentle hike has a calming effect.

  • Add a visit to the High Desert Museum

    Visit the nationally-acclaimed High Desert Museum where our guide will give a 30-minute tour of the Spirit of the West, a walk-through-time exhibit of High Desert history. This tour will set the stage for the rest of their visit. Guests will then have time to explore the museum on their own.

  • Fall River Hike

    This peaceful, wildlife-filled river is a terrific hike to see old growth ponderosa pines and to witness the incredible nature of central Oregon’s hydrology. We’ll walk to the spot where Fall River bubbles up out of earth to form a spectacular body of water.

  • Tumalo Falls Hike

    This stunning hike will begin at the base of 85-foot Tumalo Falls and will take us up along the North Fork of Tumalo Creek where one waterfall after the next drops into deep pools carved into the forest floor. Basalt, wildflowers and chilly water fill our senses while silence of the forest reigns. Rated moderate – 4 miles.

  • Tumalo Mountain Trek

    Get ready to head into the heart of the Cascade Mountain Range, the backbone of Oregon! Our ascent will take us up 1,500 feet to Tumalo Mountain’s spectacular 7,800-foot summit. This volcano sits right next to Mt. Bachelor, Broken Top and South Sister, a great spot for our guide to highlight the region’s geology from what is perhaps the most impressive view of the Central Oregon Cascades. Rated challenging – 3.5 miles. We recommend this hike in the morning if July or August.

  • Sisters plus the Metolius River

    This leisurely excursion takes us into outstanding old growth forests comprising the cinnamon-colored Ponderosa Pine. A short walk will lead us to the Head of the Metolius River where we’ll witness pure waters springing from the earth. Then it’s on to Sisters, a quaint western town, for some shopping and lunch. Suggestions for lunch in Sisters will be given to the group or lunch can be provided and we will make the appropriate stop. Another option is a group lunch at a local restaurant.
